Choosing an Experience
-
Yes. Lazy Day Wellness sound baths and creative experiences welcome first-time participants. No previous meditation, sound bath, floating or artistic experience is required unless the selected event page states otherwise.
-
Offerings may include floating sound baths, non-floating sound meditation, cacao ceremonies with sound, Meditation Through Colour and private or customized group experiences. Dates and locations change, so check the current booking calendar.
-
Choose a floating sound bath to rest above warm water, a deck chair or sound meditation option if you prefer to remain on dry ground, a cacao and sound experience for a guided ceremonial format, or Meditation Through Colour for a creative experience.
-
Lazy Day Wellness presents its public sessions as wellness and relaxation experiences. Some formats may draw on ceremonial or reflective traditions. Review the specific description and contact the team if you would like more information before booking.
Sound Baths and Floating
-
A sound bath is a guided relaxation experience in which participants rest comfortably while instruments such as crystal singing bowls, gongs, chimes and drums create layers of sound and vibration. There is no technique to master. You can settle in, breathe naturally and listen.
-
A floating sound bath takes place on top of a pool. During Lazy Day Wellness sessions in Calgary and nearby communities, participants rest on stable floating platforms above the water while a practitioner leads gentle relaxation and a live sound journey.
-
No. Participants normally rest on top of a floating platform and remain dry. The platform is supported by the water, but you do not need to swim or lie directly in the pool.
-
Swimming is not part of the experience because participants remain on the floating platform. If you are uncomfortable around water or have a specific safety concern, contact the team before booking so the setting and available alternatives can be discussed.
-
The platform is designed to provide a stable place to rest. Some gentle movement from the water is normal. Guests who prefer not to float can choose a deck chair or another dry-format experience when available.
-
After a welcome and short introduction, you settle into a comfortable position. The practitioner may begin with breathing or guided relaxation before playing crystal bowls, gongs, drums, chimes and other instruments. The session ends gradually with time to return to the room and prepare to leave.
-
Falling asleep is not a problem. Some participants become very relaxed during a sound bath. Your host will gently guide the group when the session is ending.
What to Wear and Bring
-
Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to rest easily. For outdoor or cooler settings, bring warm layers and socks. Clothing requirements may vary by venue, so review the selected experience page before attending.
-
Bring the comfort items listed for your location. These may include a blanket, small pillow, two towels, a yoga or padded mat, water and a change of clothes. Outdoor sessions may also require sunscreen, a hat or insect repellent.
-
Floating boards provide stable support but can feel firm. A yoga mat or padded layer can provide additional comfort when the venue instructions recommend one.
Cacao and Creative Experiences
-
The experience generally begins with ceremonial-grade cacao, intention setting or guided meditation. Participants then settle into an immersive sound bath using instruments such as singing bowls, gongs, chimes and drums. The exact format, duration and setting are listed on the selected event page.
-
Cacao naturally contains stimulating compounds, including some caffeine and theobromine. If you are pregnant, sensitive to stimulants, taking medication or managing a health condition, consult your healthcare provider and contact the team before booking.
-
Contact the team before booking a cacao experience and describe the allergy or dietary requirement. Ingredients and preparation may vary, so suitability must be confirmed for the specific event.
-
No. Meditation Through Colour uses guided meditation and simple creative prompts. The purpose is to explore colour and expression, not to produce a technically perfect painting.
Health, Comfort and Accessibility
-
No. Lazy Day Wellness experiences are offered for relaxation and personal wellbeing and are not a substitute for medical care, mental health treatment or advice from a regulated healthcare professional.
-
If you are pregnant, speak with your healthcare provider before attending and let the Lazy Day Wellness team know in advance. This allows you to discuss the experience format and any comfort considerations.
-
Speak with your healthcare provider before booking if you have a health or mental health condition, an implanted medical device, sound sensitivity or concerns about strong sound and vibration. Contact the team in advance so they can explain the session format and available seating options.
-
You may be able to sit in a comfortable position or select a dry-seating option, depending on the experience. Contact the team before booking if you have mobility, balance, pain or positioning needs.
-
Accessibility varies by venue because Lazy Day Wellness experiences are held at several Calgary-area locations. Contact the team before booking so parking, entrances, washrooms, pool access, seating and other requirements can be confirmed
