Ryden William Brogden
1994–2022

Silhouette of a person fly fishing in a river at sunset, with stylized text and logo below.“It’s more than a lifestyle” was Ryden’s motto for creating FlyCo, a clothing company that blended his love of fly fishing with streetwear, while supporting causes he cared about — river and fish sustainability, and animal rescue.

In order to carry on his legacy, all proceeds of FlyCo will be donated to fish and river sustainability associations and various animal rescue shelters, both of which were causes Ryden was very passionate about. He loved all critters, and made a point to feed and to care for any animal in need, which included rescuing dogs, cats, to even a great grey owl.

Lazy Day is honoured, on behalf of the Brogden family, to carry a full range of FlyCo gear including t-shirts, crewnecks, long-sleeved shirts, hoodies, UV shirts, toques and hats in a range of styles and colours. Stop by the shop at 720 3ST NW to pick up your gear!

Ryden’s Story

Born and raised in rural Alberta, Ryden was a passionate outdoorsman, self-taught fly fisherman, and talented photographer. His dream for FlyCo was to blend his love of fly fishing with streetwear, while supporting causes he cared about—river and fish sustainability, and Person in a boat on a river with two dogs, wearing sunglasses and a hooded jacket.animal rescue.

Ryden’s adventures took him across Alberta, B.C., Vancouver Island, the Yukon, the U.S., and even Italy, always chasing the “perfect water.” Known for his fly-tying skills and dedication to catch-and-release, he believed fishing was about the journey as much as the catch. With his dogs Lewis and Rusty by his side, he explored rugged terrain, capturing it all through his lens.

Man kneels in a stream holding a fish, surrounded by rocks and trees. His life ended far too soon, leaving a deep void for family, friends, and his beloved pets. To honour his legacy, proceeds from FlyCo will continue to support the conservation and animal causes Ryden loved.

With gratitude,
The Brogden Family
